  • Jack Grealish remains on loan at Everton despite injury
  • The England international is sidelined through a serious foot injury
  • Manchester City are highly likely to sanction a permanent exit this summer

Manchester City are likely to be subject to cut-price transfer interest from Everton for England international forward Jack Grealish, according to reports.

Grealish’s 2025/26 season has been a story of two halves, beginning with a loan move to Everton that sparked a career resurgence under David Moyes.

After collecting the Premier League Player of the Month award in August and registering eight goal involvements in 22 appearances, Grealish was halted in late January by a stress fracture in his foot, requiring surgery that ruled him out for the remainder of the campaign.

As he enters the final 12 months of his Manchester City contract this summer, the 30-year-old appears to be at a definitive crossroads in his career, with Pep Guardiola and the club increasingly firm on the player’s time at the club at its natural end.

Whether or not Grealish moves on a temporary agreement once more when the summer market reopens remains to be seen, but one report has indicated that a permanent solution may come from a familiar source.

What is Everton’s stance on Jack Grealish?

According to The i Paper’s Mark Douglas, Everton remain hopeful of negotiating a deal for Grealish from Manchester City, with the forward keen to return to the Hill Dickinson Stadium next season – enthusiasm that is reciprocated by manager David Moyes.

It is claimed that after the Toffees had already committed around £10 million in wages and fees to a season-long loan deal, the club’s valuation of the Manchester City Treble-winner is around the £20 million mark.

From the side of City, they have almost certainly already replaced the Englishman through the likes of Jeremy Doku and Omar Marmoush on the left, Rayan Cherki and Antoine Semenyo as the more versatile options, and Nico O’Reilly as the more versatile central name.

Do Man City need any further signings to replace Grealish?

For now, it remains unknown as to whether City could turn to the market for other attacking reinforcements this summer, with the priority likely to be central midfield and perhaps a name to come into the right-back role.

Bernardo Silva, Mateo Kovacic, and Nico Gonzalez all face uncertain futures in the middle of the park, while Manchester City have the likes of Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson and Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali on their shortlist.

As for right-back, and despite the success of Matheus Nunes in the role this season, a younger profile could be targeted, with Roma’s Wesley and Feyenoord’s Givairo Read both linked with the Etihad Stadium in recent months.
