Leeds United face a growing fight to re-sign Karl Darlow after his contract expired on Tuesday, with Everton interested, according to Sky Sports. The Toffees want depth behind Jordan Pickford and Mark Travers.

Leeds have tabled fresh terms but the 35-year-old is considering his options. Manchester United are also keen as they weigh a move for experienced cover.

United want a back-up to clear first-choice Senne Lammens, signed for £18million last year, with Altay Bayindir and Andre Onana both potentially leaving. Onana is expected to join Trabzonspor on loan, while Bayindir’s future is uncertain.

Darlow would be a low-cost, low-risk addition, homegrown and a Wales international. He played 22 of Leeds’ 38 Premier League games last season, reclaiming the gloves early this year after Lucas Perri’s errors against Manchester United and Newcastle.

Goalkeeper remains unsettled at Elland Road, with Perri the only senior option under contract. A new deal for Alex Cairns is thought to be verbally agreed but not confirmed. Illan Meslier is also a free agent and has Premier League interest from Arsenal, while Parma’s Zion Suzuki is understood to be liked, with no active pursuit.
