Arsenal open the defence of their Premier League crown in the first match of the season against Frank Lampard’s Coventry City, last season’s Championship winners, and there could be a familiar name on the opposition bench, albeit one most Arsenal supporters may not have thought about for some time, Sal Bibbo.
The 51-year-old worked at Arsenal under Arsene Wenger, Unai Emery and Mikel Arteta before leaving in 2020 after five years at the club.
Bibbo, a former lower-league goalkeeper, has since worked with Brighton’s under-21s, Sheffield Wednesday’s first team and Rangers.
According to reports in Scotland, Bibbo is set to leave Glasgow after only a year in Scotland to return to England to join Coventry.
The Coventry Telegraph adds that Aled Williams, the club’s goalkeeping coach, has left after seven years. No reason is given for his departure.
