Despite praising Inter Milan as the strongest Serie A team, Gianfranco Zola has another Scudetto favorite.

Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInter1908, Zola delivered his verdict on an intense title race in Serie A.

Only four points separate the top five teams midway through the campaign, promising another nerve-shredding season finale.

Indeed, this season’s Scudetto race is likely to go down to the wire, with Juventus and Roma joining the picture.

Although Inter Milan lead the way, Cristian Chivu cannot take anything for granted.

Second-placed AC Milan trail the Nerazzurri by a single point, while reigning holders Napoli lag two points behind.

However, unlike Inter and Napoli, Milan will not compete on multiple fronts.

Without the distraction of European football and out of the Coppa Italia, Milan can focus on winning a landmark 20th Serie A title.

Yet, Chivu is eager to hoist the trophy in his maiden managerial season at San Siro.

Gianfranco Zola Views Inter Milan as Strongest Team in Serie A

Asked to name the best Serie A side, Zola replied: “The strongest, even if only slightly, is Inter for me.”

Indeed, Zola confirmed his belief that the Nerazzurri could dominate Serie A in 2026.

However, the former Chelsea striker has another Scudetto favorite.

“But I’m a romantic,” he added. “So I say Napoli for what it has meant in my life.

“My firstborn was born there, and I don’t need to remind anyone, I’ve received so much from that place.

Meanwhile, Zola faced a tough choice naming Serie A’s man of the year.

“I could say Antonio Conte, who has won,” he said. “But that would be unfair to De Laurentiis.

“I could say Beppe Marotta, who has confirmed himself as number one.

“However, I couldn’t ignore Cristian Chivu, a choice by the Nerazzurri president that continues to amaze me.”
