The Blades are considering whether to go in a different managerial direction going forward.
Chris Wilder may lose his job at Sheffield United as the club's new owners discuss whether he should lead them into the future.
It emerged on Thursday that the bigwigs at Bramall Lane are thinking about replacing their manager, following a disappointing end to a very successful season.
They amassed 92 points, two of which were taken off due to a points deduction, and got to the play-off final in impressive fashion but fell short against Sunderland.
The Blades were around a dozen or so minutes from sealing their spot in the Premier League for next season before Eliezer Mayenda and Tom Watson's goals shot them in the heart.
Despite not achieving their ultimate goal, Lee Hendrie believes that United should stick with Wilder. He guided them up to the top flight in 2019, and Hendrie sees them being one of the top contenders again next season if they making some improvements to their playing staff over the summer.
"I think this would be a massive blow for the football club, I'm not going to lie," Hendrie exclusively told Football League World.
"I think what Chris did last season, he all but got them a promotion. He's been away from the football club, come back to them. He's rejigged things, he's changed formation, so he's not one-dimensional. He has got different solutions in his locker that can certainly change games.
"I just think that they were really unfortunate [last season]. They had a two-point deduction, and they were still in the thick of the promotion race to the Premier League, so I do think that, personally, they should stick with him. I know that he's very well liked by the squad. You add to what they already have and I think that they'll be strong again next season.
"I'd be pretty disappointed if they went elsewhere and looked to bring someone else in, because I think Chris wears his heart on his sleeve and he's a very good manager. You can see how enthusiastic he is and how much it means to him.
"I'd be sticking with Chris, there's no doubt about that."
The Blades are the second team in consecutive years to get to the 90-point mark and not win promotion. Their Yorkshire rivals Leeds United were the unlucky bearers of that record in the 2023/24 campaign.
They, too, considered switching out their previous Championship-promotion-winning boss (Daniel Farke) after a devastating post-season. But, they stuck with him and it paid off. Leeds beat the Blades to automatic promotion last term, won the league and are now back in the Championship thanks to Farke.
A similar future could be ahead of the Blades if they stick with the man that has done this before. Getting rid of him would create unnecessary uncertainty at Bramall Lane.
