Fabrizio Romano says Leeds United have entered the race for Sassuolo centre-back Tarik Muharemović, with Sunderland also pursuing the 23-year-old. He adds that Sunderland and Bournemouth have made contact in recent weeks and that Juventus retain a 50 per cent sell-on clause.

Sunderland want another central defender for Régis Le Bris this summer and have been repeatedly linked with the Bosnia and Herzegovina international.

Juventus’ clause would entitle them to half of any fee Sassuolo receive, which could complicate negotiations.

Muharemović made 32 appearances for Sassuolo last season, including 31 in Serie A, scoring twice. The left-footed centre-back is under contract until 2031 and is a senior Bosnia and Herzegovina international.
