The club said in a statement that Al-Ittihad caused the collapse of the proposed N’Golo Kante and Youssef En-Nesyri swap by entering incorrect details into FIFA’s Transfer Matching System, which led to the deadline being missed.

The winter window shut with frustration between the clubs after the move fell through, and an explanation was issued on Tuesday.

The timeline included agreements with both players, completed medicals and approvals, and registration documents uploaded correctly within the required period.

An extension was sought and discussions held with FIFA to try to complete the process, but Al-Ittihad did not finalise their side or offer a justification, so the transfer was not completed.
