Fenerbahçe ‘hold’ London talks for Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins after Greenwood deal | OneFootball

According to Turkish-Football.com, Fenerbahçe executives travelled to London for face-to-face talks over Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins on the same day they finalised the Mason Greenwood deal in Manchester.

The club have identified Watkins as their next marquee target as they look to add further firepower.

During the London meeting, Villa made clear that letting their centre-forward go would be difficult. They view Watkins as integral and say sourcing a suitable replacement in the current market would be tough.

Villa are said to have opened at €40 million. Fenerbahçe hope to find common ground by negotiating the fee.

From the player’s side, the 30-year-old England international is receptive to the switch and has given the green light in principle. Any move remains dependent on agreement between the clubs.

Fenerbahçe have tabled a three-year contract worth €10 million net per season. The proposed package totals €30 million in salary.

If concluded, combining that salary commitment with any fee could make this one of the most significant transfers in Turkish football history.
