Ferran Torres fuels exit talk – “Barcelona have to show that they love me” | OneFootball

Barcelona are at risk of losing Ferran Torres this summer, amid strong interest being shown from Paris Saint-Germain. The 2026 World Cup final matchwinner has less than a year remaining on his contract at the Spotify Camp Nou, and at this stage, it is far from certain that a renewal agreement takes place – and if that does not happen, an exit would be inevitable.

The pressure of the Torres situation, which could leave them without a recognised striker going into the 2026-27 season, is yet to tell for Barcelona, whose stance on the matter has remained unmoved despite the recent speculation. However, that could now change after the player himself came out publicly to clarity things.

Speaking on Sportico (via MD), Torres admitted that he is flattered by the interest being shown from PSG. He also revealed that he wants similar feelings shown by those in Can Barca, while also making clear that he is in no rush to make a definitive decision on his future.

“Anytime these teams want you, it’s a good thing. Barça have to show that they love me. They can come to negotiate and, in the end, everything will be discussed. I have a contract with Barça. It’s true that in football you never know what can happen, but the good part is that, as I have a contract, I can wait and decide for myself.”

Barcelona cannot lose Torres for free in 2027

While it is important that Barcelona count on Torres for the 2026-27 season, especially if they fail to sign Julian Alvarez, it is even more crucial that they do not lose his services next summer without securing a renewal agreement. The striker market has been inflated for several years now, and losing a player for free that could very easily command a fee of €70-80m would be an absolute disaster for the Catalans.

Thus, they must make a decision soon on whether to press ahead with plans to offer him a new contract, or indicate to PSG that they are willing to sell. That call should be made soon.
