Flamengo await Luiz Araújo scan, De la Cruz could return next game | OneFootball

Flamengo are concerned over Luiz Araújo after the forward twisted his left knee following a challenge from behind in the 4-2 win over Olimpia at Mané Garrincha. He applied ice immediately on the bench amid fears of possible damage.

According to Globo.com, he will undergo imaging on his return to training and is likely to miss at least the Chapecoense match on Wednesday. He arrived back in Rio limping.

Nicolás De la Cruz was omitted from the friendly after head coach Leonardo Jardim reported issues detected in the player’s strength tests, adding he did not know how long the midfielder might be out.

The Uruguayan has no injury and is on a load management plan after reporting back undercooked from national-team duty, with an expectation he returns for Chapecoense. Fellow returnee Plata is on a similar programme and has not yet trained on the pitch.

Arrascaeta, Paquetá and Léo Ortiz are expected to remain unavailable on Wednesday. The squad were given Saturday off and will reconvene on Sunday morning at the Ninho do Urubu.
