Flamengo bring back first team for Vasco derby, with Bruno Henrique threat | OneFootball

Flamengo will deploy their senior side against Vasco on Wednesday, an unwelcome twist for the São Januário club given Bruno Henrique’s scoring record.

The club said in a statement that the first team will feature in the Clássico at the Maracanã, with kick-off at 21:30 Brasília time in the third round of the Carioca.

Among active players, no one has more goals against Vasco than Bruno Henrique, who has 11 in 23 appearances. The Flamengo idol could influence the derby.

Pedro has scored eight in 18 against Vasco, and Gabriel Barbosa has eight in 20. All three leading active scorers have ties to Flamengo, and Gabriel Barbosa has not found the net against the rivals since leaving the club.

After three matches without a win, Flamengo risk slipping into the relegation quadrangular. The board have brought forward the senior debut to help the under-20 group steer clear of danger in the state competition.
