According to Coluna Do Fla, Flamengo have nine players at the 2026 World Cup and a cumulative 21 goals at the tournament by footballers representing the club. If any of the current group score, they would join a select list of eight scorers, with Arrascaeta already on it after two in 2022.
The club’s leading World Cup marksman is Leônidas da Silva. Brazil’s 1938 striker struck seven times in four matches. Zico follows with five across 1978, 1982 and 1986.
This century, no Flamengo player has scored for Brazil at a World Cup. The three goals in the 2000s came from overseas players, Paolo Guerrero in 2018 for Peru, and Arrascaeta’s two in 2022.
For Brazil, Lucas Paquetá, Danilo, Léo Pereira and Alex Sandro will try to end that drought for Flamengo in the Seleção.
Uruguay include Arrascaeta, De La Cruz and Varela. Ecuador look to Gonzalo Plata, and Colombia have midfielder Jorge Carrascal.
