Flamengo will brief the media in Porto Alegre on Friday, with José Boto and Leonardo Jardim speaking before training after their abandoned Libertadores tie in Colombia.

According to Coluna Do Fla, the fixture against Independiente Medellín on Thursday was halted within minutes after violent protests by home supporters, including fireworks and flares aimed at the pitch and fires in the stands. Conmebol paused play while police cleared the Independiente Medellín sections, but unrest then continued outside Estádio Atanasio Girardot and the match was cancelled.

Boto and Jardim are due to address reporters at the Hilton Porto Alegre at 13:45, Brasília time. The squad will then train at Internacional’s training centre at 16:30.

The travelling party has already arrived in Porto Alegre as they prepare to visit Grêmio in the Brasileiro on Sunday at 19:30, round 15.

Flamengo await a possible 3-0 walkover to be awarded by Conmebol, which would secure progression to the last 16 with two rounds to spare. The news conference may also cover Thursday night’s events, with both men expected to take questions on the Libertadores situation.
