Flamengo will spend the World Cup pause in Portugal, staging a two-week camp in the Algarve and playing three friendlies, the last against Benfica on 11 July. According to Globo.com, the squad will be based in two locations.
After facing Coritiba on Saturday, the players will have a few days off before travelling on 28 June. From Lisbon, they will take a two-and-a-half-hour coach ride to Lagos, their first base.
They will stay at the seafront Cascade Wellness Resort, which has two pitches for training. The team will then move to Estoi, about one hour from Lagos. The second hotel sits closer to Estádio Algarve, the venue for all three games.
In the second phase, Flamengo will use the training centre next to the stadium. Talks are under way for friendlies against Falkirk FC on 3 or 4 July and Birmingham on 8 July.
The Benfica match on 11 July will count for the Troféu do Algarve, a nod to the traditional pre-season tournament held at the ground. Club representatives have visited Portugal recently to finalise arrangements, with SingularSport overseeing the camp.
Flamengo are due to return to Brazil on 12 July to continue preparations at Ninho do Urubu.
