Flamengo closed the transfer window without landing marquee targets Thiago Almada and Luiz Henrique, turning instead to Joaquín Freitas and Anthony Valencia. A 10 million euro sale of Gonzalo Plata to Dynamo Moscow collapsed after medicals.
According to Globo.com, Flamengo pushed hard for both moves, offering more than River Plate for Almada, who chose a 20 million euro return to Argentina. Talks for Luiz Henrique ended after his camp shut them down, with budget limits and a crowded agent picture cited despite progress with Zenit.
Freitas arrives in a deal worth around seven million dollars plus about two million in bonuses. Expected to feature centrally in Rio, he had been used wide or as a second striker.
Valencia cost about five million euros, with Royal Antwerp due 15 percent of any future profit. The 23-year-old Ecuador international has 13 goals and seven assists this season.
Wallace Yan joined Bragantino for six million euros for 70 percent, with forward Juliano Viana moving the other way. Everton Cebolinha terminated his deal to sign for Santos until the end of 2026, while left back Matias Viña joined Cruzeiro on loan to the end of 2026 with a four and a half million dollar option.
Plata travelled before being sent back, and Flamengo say they will seek reparations, deny any clinical issue and accuse the Russian club of being amateur and irresponsible. Director José Boto criticised Dynamo, cautioned agents and welcomed Plata back.
