Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez, up for re-election on Sunday 7 June, has promised to lodge a bid of at least 150 million for an unnamed player. He also confirmed the imminent arrivals of Ibrahima Konaté, Denzel Dumfries and Benfica coach José Mourinho.
“I will make an offer to a major Champions League club, likely on Tuesday. It will be the largest fee ever paid by Real Madrid for a player, at least 150 million,” he told Cuatro.
Pérez did not reveal the target’s identity, giving only the hint of an attacking profile who drives from midfield into the final third.
Beyond the record bid, he said Konaté is coming from Liverpool and Dumfries from Inter Milan, with Mourinho set to take charge after leaving Benfica.
Mourinho would move to Madrid for 15 million euros if Pérez is re-elected.
