Fluminense face Botafogo in the Brasileirão at the Maracanã on Thursday, 12 February 2026, with both teams sitting in early Copa Sudamericana places and looking to build momentum.

Fluminense have four points from two league games, while Botafogo are on three after contrasting results. The head to head has been closely split in recent seasons, and Fluminense also won 1-0 away in the Carioca earlier this month.

Flu opened with a 2-1 home win over Grêmio before a 1-1 draw at Bahia. Fogão thrashed Cruzeiro 4-0 on the opening matchday but then lost 5-3 at Grêmio, and also fell to Flu and Vasco da Gama in state competition.

Tricolor Carioca are without Germán Cano and Nonato through injury. Glorioso list Fernando Marçal, Kaio Fernando Da Silva Pantaleao, Chris Ramos and Santiago Mariano Rodriguez Molina as injured, trimming options across defence, midfield and attack.

With three scored and two conceded in the league, Flu have been comparatively solid, whereas Fogão's two games brought seven for and five against, pointing to a more open style. Without Cano, Tricolor Carioca may need others to share the goals, while Glorioso could again lean on their forward output.

A win would move Flu to seven points and could nudge them up from sixth. Botafogo would reach six with victory and may climb from 10th, strengthening their place in the early continental qualification pack. After this, Flu visit Palmeiras, while Fogão are set to travel to Athletico Paranaense.
