Leeds United’s Premier League opener at Nottingham Forest could come against new management, with Vitor Pereira’s future uncertain.
Fabrizio Romano reported on X that Forest and Pereira could not continue together for the upcoming season and that the Portuguese coach could be gone.
The Telegraph reports that Oliver Glasner will take over at the City Ground, the Austrian having left Crystal Palace when his contract expired.
Leeds visit Forest on Saturday 22 August after both avoided relegation last season. Forest went through four managers in nine months before appointing Pereira on an 18-month deal in February, and he guided them to 44 points.
Any split would mark a sharp U-turn. In mid-May, The Athletic’s David Ornstein reported that Forest planned to hand Pereira a new long-term contract and that the atmosphere around the club was extremely healthy.
Two weeks ago, BBC Sport said talks were put on hold, though both parties were still thought to be committed at that stage.
A change now would add to a summer of churn, with newly promoted Ipswich Town replacing Kieran McKenna with Gary O’Neil and Crystal Palace, Fulham, Chelsea, Bournemouth, Liverpool and Manchester City all set for new managers.
