Wilfried Nancy, out of work since leaving Celtic back in January, has set his sights on a move to Ligue 1, as he tells RMC Sport.
Nancy arrived in Europe highly rated following his successful stint at Columbus Crew in the MLS. He left the US side, after 136 games in charge, to join a struggling Celtic side. He took over from interim manager Martin O’Neill at the start of December, but at the start of January, just eight games later, he was back out the door. He was replaced by O’Neill, who went on to win the Scottish Premiership, defeating Hearts on the final day of the league season to do so.
Nancy has not been in work since, but he is now looking to make a return. The Frenchman appeared on RMC Sport show After Foot on Wednesday evening and outlined his comeback plans. “I am confident in my work, but I am also humble because things can move very quickly in football,” began the Frenchman.
He continued, “It’s true that, in the past three years, there’s been no reason to complain because French clubs wanted to work with me. It is a question of timing, and the timing wasn’t right at the time. Now, I want to come to Ligue 1, if there is an opportunity. I am not the one who decides, but I am ready.”
