Wolves are set to sign Kieran Trippier after his Newcastle United release, with a verbal agreement for a two-year deal in place.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, the former Atletico Madrid and Spurs defender was out of contract this summer amid Premier League and Saudi Pro League interest.
With recruitment geared towards an automatic Premier League return, four other free agents could suit Wolves’ plans this summer.
Dennis Cirkin, Sunderland left-back, was linked last summer after starring in their Championship play-off triumph. Injury problems and a loss of favour followed as Sunderland qualified for Europe. Out of contract, he has been tipped to leave and offers second-tier know-how.
Axel Tuanzebe, 28, made 14 Premier League starts for Burnley after a one-year move from Ipswich Town. A promotion winner with the Tractor Boys in 2024/25, he made 22 appearances the following season. He could be available if no new deal arrives.
Solly March’s Brighton exit was confirmed last week after more than 300 appearances across 14 seasons. At 31, injuries have complicated recent years, yet there is Premier League interest. He could still add quality in the Championship.
Josh Laurent, out of contract at Burnley, is a versatile 31-year-old with strong Championship pedigree. He was crucial in Burnley’s promotion two seasons ago and featured heavily in the Premier League. Interest is expected this summer.
