Gameweek 36 saw an early Michael Kayode (£4.6m) throw-in nearly result in a goal for the Bees. Sadly, the attack was frustratingly cleared off the line. Meanwhile, later in the game, the right-back nicely weighted a pass to Igor Thiago (£7.3m), whose shot was stopped by Gianluigi Donnarumma (£5.6m).
In stoppage time, Thiago again forced a save from the goalkeeper, from a Dango Ouattara (£5.7m) cross.
At the other end, Caoimhín Kelleher (£4.8m) made seven saves of his own to gain a couple of extra points.
There was also some defensive contribution (DefCon) rewards for Kristoffer Ajer (£4.4m), Mathias Jensen (£4.9m) and Mikkel Damsgaard (£5.6m) – the latter needing a mere 18 minutes to reach the threshold.
The Bees now sit eighth in table, just four points behind sixth place, a spot which could bring Champions League qualification should Aston Villa both finish fifth and win the Europa League.
There were a couple of penalty shouts for FPL midfielder Kevin Schade (£6.8m) on Saturday. Firstly, Thiago played the 24-year-old through, allowing him to cut across the defender. The second coming when Thiago squared the ball to the German at close-range.
Throughout the 2025/26 season, Schade is the joint-fifth-best midfielder for shots inside the box (50), while leading the way for headed attempts (23) and Opta-defined big chances (20).

The midfielder netted six times in this season’s first 17 outings, and is due another with only one goal in the subsequent 16. Schade finished the previous campaign strongly and faces Crystal Palace next, who may have their eyes on the upcoming Conference League final.
Over the weekend, Gameweek 36’s top three scorers were all defenders. The 15 points of James Tarkowski (£5.7m) came from collecting a goal, an assist and DefCon rewards.
On the same total is Maxim De Cuyper (£4.3m), who set up two strikes and kept a clean sheet in Brighton’s comfortable win over Wolves. His second assist came in the fifth minute, a corner headed in by 14-point team-mate Lewis Dunk (£4.5m).
Then again, this Double Gameweek has Man City and Crystal Palace playing again on Wednesday, when they’ll meet at the Etihad Stadium. Erling Haaland (£14.7m) and Jérémy Doku (£6.5m) are currently on 11 points, whereas Marc Guéhi (£5.1m) has nine.
Sticking with Pep Guardiola’s side, Rayan Cherki (£6.6m) was the most-bought player heading into both Gameweek 35 and 36.
Yet the in-form attacker was taken off before the hour mark on Saturday, the same evening that Doku scored his third goal in two matches.
He’s a popular purchase for the penultimate deadline, as are several Arsenal names like Viktor Gyökeres (£9.0m), Bukayo Saka (£10.0m) and William Saliba (£6.2m). The Gunners are about to host Burnley.
Therefore, as a team fighting for the title plays at home against an already-relegated Clarets, managers will also be trusting Arsenal individuals with their armband.
Saka finally played substantial minutes in Gameweek 36, albeit that was because the north Londoners were struggling to find a way through West Ham’s backline.
Knowing there’s a Champions League final on the horizon, Saka’s game time may depend on how comfortable the night is.
Alternatively, Haaland is away to a Bournemouth team on consecutive clean sheets, and Bruno Fernandes (£10.4m) will be at home to the now-safe Nottingham Forest.
