France head coach Didier Deschamps waxed lyrical about Inter Milan superstar Marcus Thuram during his latest interview.

During his latest pre-match conference via FCInterNews, Deschamps hailed Ticus’ commitment and desire.

Marcus Thuram has become one of Europe’s deadliest forwards since joining Inter in the summer of 2023.

Indeed, the French forward helped the Nerazzurri win a landmark 20th Scudetto in his first season in Serie A.

Furthermore, he forged a formidable attacking partnership with Lautaro Martinez.

Perhaps the third time could be the charm.

Meanwhile, Thuram remains an influential figure in France’s national team despite fierce competition for places.

Indeed, the 28-year-old competes with Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele for a place in the starting XI.

“Marcus is here with us, he’s regularly available,” Thuram said. “I’ve used him in a system that’s not the same as the one he plays at his club, which involves two strikers.

“He’s done a lot of good things, but he lacked efficiency, which is what you expect from a forward.

“He had chances – let’s just say that’s the step he still needs to take.

“Marcus is a box striker, but he can also play out wide, and that’s where I’ve used him most.

“He’s someone who never pulls out of a challenge, he always gives everything.

“Indeed, he doesn’t do everything perfectly, but he has played a lot in that wider role.

“He didn’t want to stay just in the center, and he blossomed in that position, in a different system with two forwards and Inter’s back five.

“But I know I can count on him, whether from the start or coming off the bench.

“However, he didn’t feature in the last match for certain reasons that led me to pick Hugo Ekitike. But there’s no problem with Marcus.”
