The French National Assembly will debate the bill to reform professional football governance on Monday 29 June.

According to L'Équipe, the Proposition de loi on the organisation, management and financing of professional sport has been added to the Assembly’s agenda after the conference of presidents of political groups fixed 29 June for its study.

The text had first been scheduled for 18 May, then postponed because of a legislative backlog.

The Fédération française de football is set to welcome the move. Its president, Philippe Diallo, last week in Ajaccio on the sidelines of the federal assembly, called the reform essential and urgent.

Since its Senate vote more than a year ago, some clubs, including PSG and Lille, have opposed elements of the bill, notably amendments on supporter representation in governance and the broadcast of one match on a free-to-air channel.

The FFF and the Ligue have already adjusted parts of their reform, which they will present to MPs at the Palais-Bourbon.
