Gabriel Barbosa steps up recovery, could return for Santos at Flamengo | OneFootball

The club said that forward Gabriel Barbosa has progressed in his recovery and began transition work on the pitch on Wednesday 1, training under supervision outside the medical department.

Despite the step forward, Gabigol will miss the meeting with Remo on Thursday 2 at 19:00 at Vila Belmiro, in the ninth round of the Campeonato Brasileiro.

There is an expectation he could be available on Sunday 5 against Flamengo at the Maracanã.

The striker is dealing with a mild oedema in the soleus muscle of his calf, as well as discomfort in the right hamstring. He felt pain in recent days and the diagnosis was confirmed on 27 March.

He also recently underwent a preventive PRP procedure to address pubic discomfort, which is unrelated to the current issue.

Since rejoining Santos on loan from Cruzeiro in January 2026, Gabriel Barbosa has played 12 matches, scoring seven goals with two assists. He is the team’s leading scorer this season.
