Galatasaray have revived their pursuit of Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes and are laying the groundwork for a January move to strengthen midfield at Rams Park. After exploring a deal in the summer, head coach Okan Buruk and the hierarchy still see the 32-year-old Portuguese as their priority.
Fotomaç reports that Fernandes is entering the final months of his Old Trafford contract without an extension, leaving him open to assess external offers ahead of January. The midfielder is currently valued at around €35 million.
The Istanbul club are keeping close tabs on his situation as they look to sustain momentum in the Süper Lig title defence and the UEFA Champions League. The plan centres on adding a transformative figure in the middle of the pitch.
Aiding the pursuit, close friend and Portugal team-mate Rafael Leão is said to be ready to act as an intermediary, using their relationship to present the sporting project in Istanbul. Recent social media activity added fuel, with Leão amplifying a clip from national team camp that showed fans urging Fernandes to join and the player smiling.
With 334 appearances for Manchester United, Fernandes has a long tenure behind him, and could become the centrepiece of Galatasaray’s next European-focused recruitment drive if conditions align in January.
