Galo holds anti-doping control talk for players and staff

Last Thursday (07/30), Atlético hosted a lecture on doping control at Cidade do Galo, in Vespasiano. The activity brought together athletes and members of the men’s and women’s professional football coaching staffs, as well as youth academy personnel, and focused on raising awareness about prevention, responsibility, and compliance with anti-doping rules.

The lecture was given by Dr. Fernando Soléra, coordinator of the CBF Doping Control Commission, and is part of an educational initiative promoted by the CBF Medical and Anti-Doping Commission, chaired by Dr. Jorge Pagura, together with the CBF Doping Control Commission.

During the meeting, the main procedures related to doping control in football were presented, along with guidance on the proper use of medications and dietary supplements, the risks of contamination by prohibited substances, and the protocols that must be observed by athletes and coaching staffs.

According to Dr. Fernando Soléra, Atlético’s initiative reinforces the importance of education as the main tool for preventing doping.

“It is essential that clubs of Galo’s stature lead actions like this, bringing this knowledge to professional football, youth categories, and women’s football. Ideally, an athlete’s first contact with anti-doping should happen in an educational lecture, not during a test. We were very well received by Atlético’s Health Department, and the club’s commitment to education is the way to protect athletes and strengthen the integrity of the sport,” he said.

The initiative reinforced the importance of prevention and education as fundamental tools for preserving sporting integrity and fair play, promoting good practices in high-performance football.
