Teenage star officially arrives at Chelsea
Geovany Quenda has revealed his excitement after officially joining Chelsea.
The Blues, on Wednesday, announced the arrival of the highly-rated teenager from Sporting CP after winning the transfer battle - involving Manchester United - last year.
Standard Sport understands Chelsea have paid a fee in the region of £40million for the 19-year-old, who has signed a contract that will keep him at the club until 2034.
Quenda spent the season with Sporting to continue his first-team development but is now relishing the chance to play for Chelsea and new manager Xabi Alonso.
He said: “It feels great to be here. Chelsea is a great team and I am excited to play here at Stamford Bridge. The club has shown faith in players like me and I am proud to be here, proud to be part of this club.
“I am excited to work with my team-mates and the manager, Xabi Alonso. I'm a very hard-working young person and I like to help my team.
“I want to be someone known for having the right mentality to help my team-mates and who does their best for the club to win trophies.”

Capable of operating on either flank, Quenda, who scored six goals and provided nine assists for Sporting in the 2025-26 campaign, could be used as a wing-back in Alonso’s preferred system.
While Quenda is Chelsea’s second arrival of the summer, after Marco Palestra, the club have agreed a deal to sell Andrey Santos to Manchester United.
Standard Sport understands that Man United have agreed to pay £48million plus an additional £2m in performance-related add-ons that are viewed as easily achievable.
A medical is being booked for Santos as the Brazilian prepares to complete his move to Old Trafford.
