Julian Nagelsmann is set to announce his 26-man Germany squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Thursday but, over the last 48 hours, several leaks have revealed who has been nominated for this summer’s tournament.

The big talking point has been the return of Manuel Neuer. Bayern Munich’s custodian is set to come out of retirement and become Germany’s No.1 at the World Cup, ahead of Hoffenheim’s Oliver Baumann. Alexander Nübel (VfB Stuttgart) is also expected to be nominated, while Jonas Urbig (Bayern) will travel to the World Cup, but not be a part of the 26-man squad, meaning Finn Dahmen (Augsburg) and Noah Atubolu (Freiburg) will miss out.

Stuttgart trio Angelo Stiller, Jamie Leweling and Deniz Undav will be nominated, but Chris Führich, Maximilian Mittelstädt and Josha Vagnoman will miss out, as will Robert Andrich (Bayer Leverkusen), Yann Aurel Bisseck (Inter) and Jonathan Burkardt (Eintracht Frankfurt). In defence, Frankfurt’s Nathaniel Brown has been given the nod after another exciting campaign.

Interestingly, Cologne’s Said El Mala and Bayern’s Lennart Karl have both been informed by Nagelsmann of their inclusion. In the case of El Mala, who has scored 13 goals and provided five assists in 34 Bundesliga appearances, it’s all the more surprising given that he’s yet to earn a senior cap.

Premier League champion with Arsenal, Kai Havertz will also be nominated with Niclas Füllkrug (Milan) set to miss out in favour of Tim Kleindienst (Borussia Mönchengladbach), who has played just six minutes of league football this term.
