Go Ahead Eagles beat Willem II 4-1 on Saturday in Deventer to climb from seventh to second after matchday one.

Devin Haen opened the scoring in the 13th minute from Nathan Tjoe-A-On's cross, but Søren Tengstedt levelled (30.) after Melle Meulensteen slipped him in.

Thomas Didillon kept the visitors in it with first half stops from Stefán Sigurðarson and Dean James.

After the restart, Meulensteen rifled into the top corner from distance to put the Supereagles ahead (61.). Moments later, substitute Erik Flataker, introduced a minute earlier, finished Victor Edvardsen's pass (63.). It was Flataker's first goal for the club since joining this summer.

Willem II then lost Didillon to injury, with Wouter Van der Steen replacing him (68.). Julius Dirksen quickly extended the lead from Mathis Suray's cross after a corner (69.).

The Supereagles controlled the game with 69% possession and 10 efforts on target. Willem II mustered one shot on target from 13 attempts.
