Departing Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka has opted for a move to AC Milan over Juventus, according to AZ.
The German international, whose contract with FC Bayern expires this summer, is expected to sign a three-year deal with the Serie A giants worth €5 million per season.
According to the Munich-based tabloid, Bayern will hold a farewell party for Goretzka on Wednesday, with the 31-year-old having spent the last eight years at the club.
He will also receive a farewell before Saturday’s Bundesliga game against 1. FC Köln at the Allianz Arena and could play his last match for Bayern in the DFB-Pokal final against VfB Stuttgart on May 23 in Berlin.
Goretzka was most recently substituted at half-time in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Wolfsburg as a precaution after being struck in the head by a free-kick.
“Leon got hit brutally on the head by the free kick and initially felt okay. But at half-time he said he was a bit dizzy. He didn’t feel quite right, so we decided he would stay in the dressing room,” Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund said after the game.
Bayern coach Vincent Kompany added that the injury was “not serious.”
“But we are now in a phase where, if someone feels something, we have to make the right decisions,” Kompany said.
