Kevin Phillips has hailed Enzo Le Fée and says the Sunderland playmaker could push for international recognition if he maintains his form after reaching 50 appearances.

Le Fée made last season's loan from Roma permanent in the summer and has impressed in his debut Premier League campaign, with four goals and five assists. According to Sunderland Echo, Phillips said the 26-year-old has added clear quality and settled quickly.

"Well, he's clearly brought quality to the team. That's why Sunderland spent a lot of money on him. I think there were a few people surprised that he came to Sunderland when he did for the fee that he went for. It's a big coup for Sunderland, and he settled in really quickly."

"The next big jump for him now is whether he can be recognised internationally. So if he keeps performing the way he is, then he's got every chance of doing that. He's a quality player, and he certainly can reach the very top for sure."

Head coach Regis Le Bris also praised Le Fée, noting progress since Lorient and mixed spells at Rennes and Roma, plus an injury last February. He said: "This season, the Premier League is probably the hardest and most demanding league in the world so if you can stay consistent as he was, it shows something."

He added that Le Fée has stayed consistent, operated in different roles and remains a smart, diligent team-mate.
