Grêmio assistant Vitor Severino renews swipe at Odair Hellmann after 0-0 draw | OneFootball

According to Globo.com, Grêmio assistant Vitor Severino reignited his back-and-forth with Odair Hellmann on Sunday, posting on X in response to the Athletico coach after Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Arena da Baixada.

The exchange began post-match, when Hellmann was asked about the “retranqueiro” tag from his early Inter days and delivered a critical response. He also referenced his time at Inter to jab at Luís Castro and past detractors.

On Sunday, Severino replied again on X, highlighting Hellmann’s recent spells with Santos, Al Riyadh and Al Raed. He wrote that if Hellmann wanted to earn more he should ask for a pay rise, congratulated Athletico on their strong start, said taking points there is difficult, and added that he was not being ironic.

One of Hellmann’s lines touched on money, saying clubs sometimes spend heavily on a supposedly attacking coach who sets up defensively, while others considered attacking earn less. For the match, Grêmio head coach Luís Castro was suspended, so Severino led the team.

Grêmio had a man advantage from the first half yet drew 0-0 with Athletico. After the match, Severino valued the point and played down the run of more than 100 days without an away win.
