Grêmio reassemble with reduced squad after exits, injuries and call-ups | OneFootball

Grêmio resumed last Wednesday with a slimmer squad, seven players from the first half of the year currently unavailable.

According to Globo.com, Arthur left after failing to agree terms and will return to Juventus, while André Henrique has moved to Türkiye.

Goalkeeper Weverton and centre-back Balbuena are at the World Cup with Brazil and Paraguay, returning once their campaigns end in the United States, Mexico and Canada.

Left-back Marlon, three months on from a serious injury, ran for the first time on Thursday. He said that, if all goes well, he could rejoin team training after the break and expects roughly 40 to almost 45 days to be ready.

Centre-back Luís Eduardo and forward Pavón are also sidelined after grade two hamstring injuries against City Torque on 26 May. The youngster returned early, as did Marlon and Gustavo Martins, to accelerate recovery. Pavón has been running around the pitch in club footage.

Grêmio are monitoring the market with limited spending in mind and a need to sell. Right-back remains a priority, a like-for-like Arthur replacement is not, though a creative midfielder is being considered. Viery and Gabriel Mec are attracting European interest and could lead any exits, with others potentially leaving if offers arrive.
