Sevilla captain Nemanja Gudelj has signalled he wants to extend his stay at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, aligning himself with Sergio Ramos’s new project. His contract is due to expire on 30 June.
"I have always said Sevilla will always be my priority. I will listen to the club and see if we can continue together, I hope so," he told Canal Sur’s Gol a Gol.
ABC de Sevilla reported initial talks have already taken place in a climate of trust, with Gudelj’s close relationship with Ramos, who is moving towards ownership via Five Eleven Capital, seen as influential. The pair forged a strong bond two seasons ago. "Sergio Ramos is a leader, he can run a club and do great things. If the purchase is a good step, I would be delighted," Gudelj said.
That attachment will drown out interest from Red Star Belgrade, which Sportklub said had made him a leading target. The captain will ignore that proposal to seal a new deal in Seville.
Goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos will depart, with Newcastle United intent on recouping the €21 million they paid, a figure beyond Sevilla this window, ABC de Sevilla said. Both parties wanted to continue, but Newcastle has the final say.
