Corinthians defeated Athletico-PR in the second leg of the Copa do Brasil quarterfinals. The standout performance came from Gui Negão, who scored a goal and provided a beautiful assist for Rodrigo Garro’s goal. After the match, the number 56 talked about his scoring streak and his unusual celebration.

“I talk a lot with my teammates, with my family, I say that the only goal there that, you know, let’s say was a little harder to score, was the first one. But apart from that, I just pushed it in, right, in the game against Paranaense, the first leg, if I’m not mistaken against Vasco. Today it was another scrappy goal, but I thank God and that’s it,” the striker began in the mixed zone.

With little time as a professional, Gui Negão already seems to have a trademark after scoring: the ‘no celebration’ celebration. He just stands still, looking at the Corinthians fans and squad.

“Honestly, I don’t even know what I did, but watching my teammates too, my family always says: if you do it one more time, you know, talk about it, like it, it’ll catch on, it’ll be your thing, so I think I really did it for that and I hope it catches on too,” he commented.

With a start of five games as a starter, racking up four goals and an assist, the striker is giving Dorival Júnior a ‘good headache’. The coaching staff, besides the young academy product, will also have Yuri Alberto back after his recovery from abdominal surgery.

“I think Dorival knows very well what Corinthians needs, what the team needs, I’m sure he’ll make a good choice, whether it’s me, Yuri, Memphis, Vitinho, Thales, Romero, I don’t know, but may it be a good choice for the club too,” the youngster concluded.

Corinthians’ next match is on Saturday, the 13th, against Fluminense. After qualifying in the Copa do Brasil, Timão will be fully focused on the Brasileirão until the end of the competition. The ball rolls at Maracanã, starting at 9 p.m. (Brasília time).
