Gustavo Gómez, Mauricio and Ramón Sosa have rejoined Palmeiras after representing Paraguay at the World Cup, taking part in Monday morning’s session at the Academia de Futebol.
According to Globo.com, the trio trained with the rest of the squad.
Mauricio said he was delighted to be back. He had no downtime during the tournament, then took a week after elimination to shed fatigue and now feels renewed.
Vitor Roque was also a positive note. One week after beginning his physical transition, the forward completed the full session without significant restrictions from the Health and Performance department, heightening expectations of a return.
Current projections place his comeback between the end of this month and the start of August. He is recovering from an ankle issue that has troubled him since the Campeonato Paulista and led to surgery in May.
Training started with muscle activation before drills on build-up play, passing, movement and finishing. It closed with a technical exercise on a reduced pitch, the squad split into two teams of 11.
Palmeiras train again on Tuesday as they prepare to return to action. Of the call-ups, only Flaco López is yet to report back, with Argentina still in the World Cup and set to face England in Wednesday’s semi-final.
