It wasn’t expected to be smooth sailing for Habib Beye at Olympique de Marseille and it hasn’t been. The former Stade Rennais manager quickly bounced back from his sacking by the Breton club, landing at OM just days later to replace the outgoing Roberto De Zerbi.

His arrival came amid fan discontent and movement within the hierarchy of the club. He failed to win any of his first two games in charge at Marseille before then winning three on the spin; all three wins came by a one-goal margin.

However, OM lost to Lille OSC just before the international break and then made the trip to face AS Monaco on Sunday night. The Principality club won 2-1 to go level on points with their opponent on the night. It saw OM slip to fourth, with Lille jumping onto the podium.

It also means that Beye has now lost three of his first seven games in charge of Les Phoceéns. It is the worst start of any OM manager since 2005.
