Hansi Flick: "Barcelona changed me.. I fell in love with this Club"
Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has opened up about how deeply his new adventure in Catalonia has affected him admitting that he is no longer the same person he was before joining the club.
The former Bayern Munich & Germany manager known throughout his career for his calm and composed demeanor on the touchline, has shown noticeably more emotional side since taking charge of the Blaugrana this summer.
Speaking ahead of Barcelona’s Champions League clash against Olympiacos on Tuesday, Flick reflected on his passionate celebration during the dramatic 2-1 win over Girona last weekend , a reaction that surprised many fans and pundits alike.
"To be honest, I’m not nervous, Maybe my emotions are just not the same as before. This club has probably changed me completely. I really love this club. I love Barcelona, I love the people here. It’s wonderful and I give my very best for it , I live for this club" Flick told reporters.
Flick also recalled one of the most painful memories in Barcelona’s modern history (the 8-2 defeat) to his Bayern Munich side in the 2020 Champions League quarter finals.
"I remember when I was Bayern’s coach, there were some pictures from that match, The first goal looked the same, the second goal looked the same and even the eighth goal .. people said: 'He never smiles'" he said.
Now the 59 year old admits the Catalan experience has unlocked different side of him.
"I’ve become more emotional, When I see myself on TV, I don’t really like it. I don’t want my grandson to see his grandfather like that maybe I should change my behavior a bit" he added with a smile.
