Hansi Flick continues to experiment with Barcelona star’s new role vs Daegu | OneFootball

A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has on Monday been tested in a new role once more.

The player in question? Gerard Martín.

Barcelona are of course currently locked in action, in a friendly meeting with FC Daegu in South Korea.

Manager Hansi Flick for his part opted for a strong XI for the clash, featuring the likes of Frenkie de Jong, Lamine Yamal, and Robert Lewandowski.

Also in from the off was the aforementioned Gerard Martín, albeit, as alluded to above, in a new position.

Last week, after being introduced off the bench during Barcelona’s victory over FC Seoul, the 23-year-old was shifted from his usual spot at left-back, to a central role in defence.

And Martín evidently did enough to impress the Blaugrana coaching staff with his ensuing performance.

This comes with the Spaniard having been afforded a starting berth in the same role on Monday, alongside Ronald Araújo.
