Hansi Flick dedicated Barcelona’s 2-0 Clasico win over Real Madrid, and the Liga crown it secured, to his father after a family bereavement hours before kick-off, L'Équipe reports.

The victory on Sunday confirmed a 29th Liga title for the Catalans.

Flick said he debated whether to tell the players, then chose to share it, describing them as family. He reflected on a difficult day, praised his team for giving everything, and said he was delighted. After the final whistle he shared a long embrace with president Joan Laporta.

Tributes also came from the dressing room. Pedri said the championship was dedicated to Flick and offered condolences, adding a message of respect to his late father.

The club’s celebrations were shaped by the head coach’s personal loss on an emotional night.
