Hansi Flick will have to make several decisions about his starting lineup for the upcoming game against Valencia, and the backline would be one area of the team giving the Barcelona boss the most headaches.

The Blaugrana coach has already made several changes in the center of the backline since the start of the season, and the center-back Ronald Araujo is not expected to play a prominent part in this game because of the fatigue he accumulated during the international break.

Meanwhile, the fullback Alejandro Balde is also out with an injury. The options to replace the injured fullback on paper are Gerard Martin and Joffre Torrents, but the latter is still very young, and the former was expected to play in Balde’s absence.

However, according to a report from Mundo Deportivo, Flick has full confidence in both of these players to replace the €60 million-rated Spanish full-back, and he can even consider Martin as an option for the center of the defense, which means Torrents might get the opportunity to play on the flank.

There is no doubt that most Barcelona fans would be hoping that this possibility actualizes itself this weekend. Joffre Torrents has already made his debut, in the opening game against Mallorca, and hopefully, he will once again be ready to showcase his talents to the fans if he gets the opportunity.
