Hemp excited at the 'momentum' City are building | OneFootball

Lauren Hemp was left happy but still wanting more following City's 4-1 win on the road in the WSL against Aston Villa.

The winger was City’s standout performer on an impressive evening for the WSL champions.

Setting up Bunny Shaw for our third, Hemp became only the seventh player in WSL history to reach 100 goal contributions, while her late deflected effort also forced the fourth and final goal deep into stoppage time.

And the England international was delighted to contribute to a strong City display.

“It’s a great result,” Hemp told Sky Sports after the game.

“It’s obviously nice to score goals and to give it to Bunny; she’s always scoring.

“It’s always nice to contribute; we’ve been working hard in pre-season to make sure our performances show when it matters.”

Hemp did add that she and the team were frustrated to concede at Villa Park, though she’s delighted to see so many different players contributing to our success.

So far, six different players have already grabbed a goal or assist from our seven strikes in 2026/27.

“We pride ourselves on clean sheets, so we want to work on that, but we’re in a good space and confident at the moment,” Hemp added.

“We’ve had different goalscorers in our games so far.

“It’s important getting the momentum into the next game.”
