Whether that was discussing facing off against Thomas Müller again, or the growth of soccer in the United States, perhaps the most poignant topic of the conversation was the imminent retirement of his ex-Barcelona teammates Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets.
With the pair set to end their careers on Saturday, Messi spoke about the potential prospect of giving the duo a nice send-off.
"I think [it would be] something very positive and nice for them to remember, to retire with one more joy to add to the great careers they've had, to all the titles they've won. "
Adding on, Messi said it would be a great way for the pair to end their time in the United States, a journey that began two and a half years ago.
"To add one more and retire on a high note and say goodbye to the United States with a title. It would be very special."
After announcing the signing of Messi the day before on July 15th, 2023, Busquets and Alba would follow shortly thereafter, with Inter Miami completing their signatures on the 16th and 20th.
The trio would subsequently change Inter Miami for the better, breaking multiple records and winning two trophies along the way.
During their time with the Herons, Alba and Busquets etched their name in club history, racking up over 100 appearances for the club, and cementing themselves in the top five of all time in assists.
Now, with the opportunity to win the biggest prize of them all, it's one last rodeo for the ex-Barcelona trio.
