Hervé Renard has replaced Sabri Lamouchi as Tunisia head coach, according to L'Équipe. The change follows a 1-5 defeat to Sweden.
In 2012, Lamouchi took charge of Côte d'Ivoire with qualification for the World Cup in Brazil as his brief. The Elephants edged Senegal 4-2 on aggregate in the third round of African qualifying.
The tournament went badly for Lamouchi's side, a 2-1 win over Japan before 2-1 defeats to Colombia and Greece. He resigned after the group-stage exit.
A month later the Ivorian federation announced Hervé Renard. Tasked with the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, the former Sochaux coach in 2013-2014 won the trophy. He repeated his 2012 success with Zambia and left for Lille midway through 2015.
When Renard has followed Lamouchi, it has usually brought success. He now faces a stern job to reach the last 32, with Tunisia due to play Japan on 21 June at 06:00 and the Netherlands on 26 June at 01:00. Japan and the Netherlands opened with a 2-2 draw.
