Hoeneß Makes a Clear Statement: Bayern Will Not Make Emergency Transfer Sales | OneFootball

FC Bayern aims to further trim its roster by the end of the transfer window. With João Palhinha, Sacha Boey, Bryan Zaragoza, and Armindo Sieb, four players are currently on the list of those up for sale. However, Uli Hoeneß has now made it clear that, despite the team’s current sporting situation, the Munich club has no plans for fire-sale transfers.

Sporting director Max Eberl has been working for weeks to reduce the record champion’s roster. While the club moved quickly to secure new signings with Ismael Saibari and Nathaniel Brown, finding buyers for some of the players on the transfer list has proven significantly more difficult.

In particular, no agreement has yet been reached with a new club regarding João Palhinha, Sacha Boey, and Bryan Zaragoza. Consequently, Eberl is repeatedly accused of making too little progress on the sales front.

Hoeneß points to millions in revenue

However, Uli Hoeneß cannot understand this criticism. The honorary president pointed out that FC Bayern has already generated substantial revenue from transfers.

“While the individual sums were small, in the end it added up to a pretty substantial amount. We had a brief meeting this morning with Herbert Hainer and a few people from our supervisory board, and he reported that we’ve already brought in over 40 million euros,” Hoeneß explained on the sidelines of the training camp at Lake Tegernsee.

The sales include, among others, Noel Aseko, Jonathan Asp Jensen, Jonah Kusi-Asare, and goalkeepers Alexander Nübel and Daniel Peretz. Added to these were further departures from the youth academy, bringing the total revenue to more than 40 million euros.

No fire sales despite clear prospects

The fact that the most prominent players on the transfer list have not yet found new clubs does not appear to be creating additional internal pressure. On the contrary: Hoeneß made it clear that FC Bayern will not sell its players below market value.

“If we still manage to sell one or two players—which we’d actually like to do—but—and I have to say this very clearly once again: A contract with FC Bayern is sacrosanct. That means: If we don’t find a club for them in the end, we’ll have to keep the players,” emphasized the 74-year-old.

In doing so, Hoeneß is demonstratively backing his sporting director. While Palhinha, Boey, Zaragoza, and even Sieb—who has returned from loan—have no prospects under Vincent Kompany, they are to leave the club only if a financially viable solution is found.

The message from Bayern’s leadership is thus clear: While the roster is to be further reduced, there will be no sales at any cost. Should no suitable offers be received by the end of the transfer window, the record champions are prepared to honor the contracts of the affected players—even if they no longer play a role in the team’s sporting plans.
