The playmaker made a well-documented switch across the Championship in 2024

It has been an extremely contrasting start to the Championship season for both Sheffield United and Coventry City, despite the fact both clubs were expected to rekindle their promotion bids at the start of the campaign.

The Blades and Sky Blues were well and truly amongst the post-season play-off drama at the end of last term, albeit both clubs would be on the end of late heartache against Sunderland at the semi-final stage and then in the final at Wembley Stadium.

Coventry had made a remarkable charge towards the top six before their aims of ending a lengthy exile were dealt a crushing blow by Dan Ballard's last-minute aggregate winner at the Stadium of Light, while Chris Wilder's side threw away a 1-0 lead at North London against the Black Cats, with Tommy Watson eventually latching onto a 94th-minute loose ball by Kieffer Moore to consign the South Yorkshire side to a second successive season of Championship football.

However, it's Frank Lampard's men who have responded to their setback in exceptional fashion, with the West Midlands side the only club in English football's top four divisions still holding an unbeaten record, as they sit top of the table on 19 points, scoring 27 goals across nine games in the process.

Meanwhile, United remain rooted to the foot of the division with a run of one win and eight defeats as Wilder has been unable to halt the slide initially started by Ruben Selles in a disastrous six-game reign.

However, Callum O'Hare was the man who provided Blades fans with their only real moment of joy thus far with the winner at Oxford United on September 27th.

With that being said, Football League World has compared his ESTIMATED wages during spells at the CBS Arena and Bramall Lane.

Callum O'Hare's previous wage at Coventry City

O'Hare was initially signed on loan from Aston Villa in 2019, ahead of a League One title-winning season for the Sky Blues under Mark Robins, despite playing their home matches at Birmingham City's St. Andrew's @ Knighthead Park at the time.

After initially excelling, the dynamic playmaker saw his move made permanent ahead of City's first Championship campaign in eight years, penning an initial three-year contract in the process.

According to Capology - a site which ESTIMATES base wages, bonuses and specific contract details - O'Hare's four-season stint as a permanently contracted member of the Sky Blues ranks began at £10,000 per week - a figure which stuck right through his time in CV6 as the West Midlands side initially consolidated their position in the Championship before becoming a dominant force.

The Solihull native extended his terms by another season in January 2022 whilst enjoying a fine spell in the second tier, although he would miss the majority of the following campaign with an ACL injury, as his current Bramall Lane teammate, Gus Hamer and now-Arsenal star, Viktor Gyokeres, fired City to the play-off final, albeit it would end in heartbreak against Luton Town.

The Sky Blues would make the FA Cup semi-final in O'Hare's final season, with the playmaker starting a dramatic initial comeback against Manchester United before his side were defeated once again in North London through a penalty shootout.

Despite Premier League interest, O'Hare moved across the Championship to S2 last summer after scoring 22 times and posting 30 assists in 182 appearances for Coventry.

Callum O'Hare is earning slightly more as a Sheffield United player than at Coventry City

O'Hare moved to Bramall Lane on a free transfer on an initial four-year deal in July 2024, with the Yorkshire side having the option to extend such terms into a fifth season.

In a new-look side looking to bounce straight back from a drab Premier League relegation campaign, the 27-year-old's versatility was a useful weapon for Wilder to call upon as United immediately wiped out a two-point deduction before lasting the course of the season in what was, largely, a four-way battle for promotion.

O'Hare started in 38 of his 44 league appearances, scoring twice and providing six assists, before scoring as many in the record-breaking play-off semi-final success against Bristol City in May with goals at Ashton Gate and Bramall Lane.

In what has been a disastrous start to the current season, he has remained one of United's more-reliable players, scoring the club's only winner of the season with a tidy finish at the Kassam Stadium in the process.

According to Capology, O'Hare's current contract sees him collect a slightly greater wage than what he was earning at the CBS, with a base figure of £15,000 per week.

This is the same ESTIMATED wage as Tyrese Campbell, Andre Brooks and Sam McCallum, approximately £20,000 less than the highest-paid permanent member of the squad, which is summer signing, Japhet Tanganga.
