How Juventus missed out on signing red-hot Frattesi this summer

Davide Frattesi has long wanted to play for Juventus, and the midfielder was keen to join the Bianconeri during the last transfer window. He was reportedly willing to wait for the club to make a formal approach, hoping the move to the Allianz Stadium would eventually materialise.

Frattesi had previously rejected Juventus when he was playing for Sassuolo, but he was ready to make amends and believed the opportunity to join the Turin giants was one worth pursuing. Luciano Spalletti had also become one of the best managers he had worked with, adding another important factor to the situation.

Juventus failed to push ahead

Juventus had made enquiries about Frattesi and appeared interested in bringing him to the club. The midfielder was prepared to wait for them to make their move, while Inter Milan were also open to allowing him to leave during that transfer window.

However, the Bianconeri ultimately failed to follow up on their initial interest with a formal attempt to complete the transfer. Despite Frattesi’s willingness to wait for Juventus, the club did not push the situation forward, and the opportunity eventually disappeared.

Instead, Frattesi moved to Lazio, where he has enjoyed an impressive start to the season. The midfielder has quickly established himself as an important player for the Eagles and has been in outstanding scoring form.

Frattesi thriving at Lazio

Frattesi has scored in each of Lazio’s league matches so far, helping the club enjoy a perfect start. They have secured three consecutive victories, leaving them among the leading sides in Serie A and giving Juventus another reason to regret not completing a deal for the midfielder.

His performances have made the decision to step away from the transfer even more significant. Juventus had an opportunity to sign a player who was willing to wait for them, but the move never progressed.

According to Calciomercato, Juventus did get in touch and were ready to make the transfer happen, with Frattesi agreeing to wait for their approach. However, Spalletti changed his mind and did not encourage the club to continue pursuing the midfielder, as their attention shifted towards other targets.

With Frattesi now producing consistently for Lazio, Juventus may look back at the decision with regret. The midfielder wanted the move; the two clubs could have reached an agreement, but Spalletti’s change of stance ultimately prevented the transfer from developing further.
