Senegal’s federation plans to take its case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport after the Confederation of African Football annulled their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final win over Morocco, but a verdict could take time, according to L'Équipe.
The federation must first receive CAF’s formal notification of the decision, then it will have 21 days to lodge its appeal.
Based in Switzerland, CAS can expedite procedures in urgent situations, particularly when a ruling is required before a competition begins.
Without such urgency, timelines are far longer. Ordinary arbitration typically lasts 12 to 18 months, while appeal proceedings average 6 to 9 months.
CAS can also grant provisional measures at short notice, including staying a federation or governing body’s decision until a final award is delivered.
