Leeds United have suffered major injury setbacks, with Anton Stach and Joe Rodon sustaining serious ankle injuries that rule them out of Monday’s trip to Manchester United and leave April involvement unlikely, according to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk.

Both were forced off in last weekend’s FA Cup quarter-final shootout win at West Ham. Stach took a heavy late challenge from Max Kilman after shooting, while Rodon landed awkwardly contesting an aerial ball.

Daniel Farke said the medical team are working step by step and that any appearance this month would be a bonus, with May the realistic timeframe for returns. The absences strip Leeds of two central figures, Rodon having played more Premier League minutes than anyone else this season and Stach ever-present when fit.

If they are not back until May, they would miss at least four matches, among them the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley against Chelsea, plus Bournemouth away and Wolves at Elland Road. Leeds’ first May fixture is Burnley at home on Friday, 1 May, brought forward to the evening.

Leeds have seen quick comebacks before, with Farke lauding the Thorp Arch medics as Champions League level as Daniel James and Ethan Ampadu returned swiftly in recent seasons. Rodon also recovered rapidly from an ankle ligament problem in December, returning after 10 days and missing two games. The Wembley tie has been set for 3pm on Sunday, 26 April, and may yet remain an optimistic target.
