Middlesbrough have sold out their Wembley allocation, but how does that compare to their play-off final opponents?

It's been a hectic few days at Middlesbrough, following the news they craved on Tuesday night, stating that they had been reinstated into the Championship play-off final.

Despite losing over two legs against Southampton in the play-off semi-finals, the Saints' win was marred by off-field issues, after Tonda Eckert's team were caught spying on Middlesbrough's training session ahead of the first-leg meeting at the Riverside on May 9.

Following a hearing taking place in the aftermath of that, Southampton were found guilty of further breaches relating to spying, and were expelled from the play-off final and handed a four-point deduction for next season. Meanwhile, Boro took their place at Wembley and are now 90 minutes away from the Premier League.

In the opposite corner are Hull City, who have been merely collateral damage in this debacle, but at least they finally know who they're facing and at what time, with it being revealed following the Saints' failed appeal that the game will still take place on Saturday with a revised kick-off time of 3:30pm.

Nevertheless, it's sure to be a spectacle, as Championship play-off finals often are, and Boro fans have done their bit to pack out Wembley alongside Hull fans who have had all week to purchase tickets.

Credit to Middlesbrough fans, despite their ticket information only going out on Wednesday, Kim Hellberg's side will be backed by a sold-out contingency in the West End of Wembley.

Boro were given 35,984 tickets for the richest game in England, and the club have filled their allocation, eager not to let this lifeline slip and take advantage to earn promotion back to the Premier League.

Hull will be backed by tens of thousands, too, but as of Friday afternoon, they have yet to sell out.

Recent updates from the club on Thursday stated that "over 32,000 fans" will be making the trip and filling the East End of Wembley. They, too, have been handed a 35,984 allocation, and with tickets still on sale, it's expected that the majority of the remaining tickets will be snapped up by some still perhaps on the fence in the final moments.

Either way, if the Tigers don't sell out, the difference will be nominal, and both sets of fans will be making enough noise not to notice it as they look to roar their sides on to the top flight.

Anticipation is building ahead of this season's Championship play-off final

With all the off-field noise that has swamped the successes of Hull and distracted from the focus of the play-off final, fans have now, finally, been able to take the occasion in, and with less than 24 hours remaining until kick off, anticipation is truly starting to build.

Both sides made their way down to London towards the end of the working week, and will continue their preparations in the capital on Friday, walk around the pitch in the evening and get ready for the biggest game of their season tomorrow.

Meanwhile, close to 70,000 fans from both sides will be making their way down over the next day. Some nervous, others excited, but all ready for what's set to be an entertaining play-off final.

Both sides picked up a win on each other's patch this season, but who will pick up the all-important victory in the third meeting, one that will propel them to the Premier League?
